On July 16, 2010, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a final rule to implement provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that provide incentive payments for the meaningful use of EHR technology. This program will provide these payments to eligible professionals, hospitals, and other organizations that utilize certified EHR systems. EHR technology that has been qualified for meaningful use is one aspect of the health information technology infrastructure needed to assist in healthcare reform and to improve the overall quality of healthcare.
On Monday, August 23, CollaborateMD will be hosting a LIVE educational webinar to breakdown the true meaning of the final rule on meaningful use. Rosemarie Nelson is back to not only examine the objectives and measures, but also to help you use your system to collect valuable information. Attend this complimentary webinar to determine your action plan for achieving meaningful use of your EHR.
During this webinar, Rosemarie will show you how to:
- Understand eligibility criteria.
- Develop your action plan to qualify for up to $44,000 under the Medicare program and up to $63,750 under Medicaid.
- Help you to determine the necessary steps to achieve meaningful use of your EHR.

Dear CollaborateMD Administrators,
In January 2009, The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the final rules for HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10. These mandated standards are intended to improve patient care quality, enhance claim processing, improve reporting and promote interoperability.
We have been working together with RelayHealth in order to assure that we are fully compliant before January 1, 2012. RelayHealth is exceeding compliance deadlines in order to make sure that we are prepared to meet the industry deadlines.
In our 8.3.3 Release, all ICD fields were improved for Professional and Institutional claims to allow eight characters (including decimals) to be entered in support of the ICD-10 specification.
More information is to come and we will provide ongoing communication regarding ICD-10 and 5010.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Client Services Department.
Thank you,
Gloria Neece
Client Services Manager
Thank you to everyone that attended our LIVE webinar—Improving the Revenue Cycle Begins at the Front End. We had a remarkable attendance of participants at both of the webinar sessions yesterday.
CollaborateMD Sales Manager, Jennifer Wilson, and Sales Associate, Keilee Ting presented informative facts to attendees regarding the necessary steps to take to make process improvements starting at the front office, and how technology can play a huge role in that process. Revenue Cycle Management contains so many important components beginning with the front office. Identifying the inefficiencies in each step of your process can truly guide you down the path to completely streamline your office.
In today’s healthcare industry, the use of technology is the trend. Health information technology allows comprehensive management of medical information and its secure exchange between healthcare consumers and providers. The goal of health information technology is to reduce medical errors, decrease paperwork, and improve the overall quality of patient care.
“Relying on technology in a practice management system can be a major benefit to office staff, the workflow of the office, and most importantly—the patient,” states Ms. Wilson.
Many webinar participants had excellent questions for our presenters and Product Specialist, Angelique Belot. We have provided some of the questions below for your convenience.
1. How do we find out which payers can do Real-Time Electronic Eligibility?
For CollaborateMD customers using electronic claims, you are able to find which payers offer eligibility by:
- Going to the Provider Section of the program.
- Retrieving a provider.
- Clicking on Tab 4 > Eligibility.
- Clicking on “Retrieve All Payers” and all payers that offer eligibility that you currently have agreements with will be listed.
2. How many resources can you set up within the Appointment Scheduler?
Based on the amount of providers, nurses, and other staff in your office, our fully customizable Scheduler allows you to create resources based on your specific needs. Its robust features allow you create resources for all of your rooms you have available, etc., and the number of resources you may set up are unlimited.
3. Does CollaborateMD integrate with EHR systems?
